The Do’s and Don’t s for Santorini and Mykonos!

myk

Do: Wear lots of sunscreen and drink water, the UV Index is like a 10 out of 10 but the temperature feels like it’s in its 70’s because of all the wind (thank god for being on the water!)

mykonos_super_paradise_from_above

Don’t: Show up without any Euros or cash.. Seriously, a lot of the ATM machines are lacking funds, and the currency exchange there is a total rip off!

Do: Rent ATVS, and be a bad ass on your 4 wheeler! Especially somewhere like Mykonos, it’s small and fairly easy to get around. P.S. the streets have no names so when it says “turn left” you just have to hope you turned the right way!

atv myk

Don’t: Rely on taxi cabs anywhere here. Have transportation set up before hand, because apparently the best thing to do in an economical downfall is to stop working? Plus, they will throw out any number as a price, and most have no meters!

Do: Take a boat out for the day (with a captain of course). Greece is synonymous with islands and this is where you will get them! Have the captain take you on The Aegean, (which may also be the most beautiful blue shimmery water I have ever seen) you can visit the hot springs, eat fresh seafood caught that day, do a little bit of snorkeling! You will not regret it, even if just for the views alone!

125-1024x681

Don’t: expect a fast paced visit while you are there, take their approach at life and enjoy every minute of it. Whether it’s sipping drinks by the water, or long talks about politics nothing will ever be in much of a hurry here, but enjoy that aspect and embrace it!

Do: party all night, and then the day away. (In Mykonos at least) Axwell x Ingrosso, Cedric Gervais, Afrojack and every other big DJ name in the world is playing out there until the sun comes up, and you can’t miss it. After your late night out wake up, drank.. literally, head to Tropicana Beach, Paradise Beach, or Scorpios at Sunset Beach which is the newest hot spot that has everyone buzzing during the day for dancing on the tables and giant liquor watermelons that will have you more plastered than Courtney Love in the 90’s!

djs

Don’t: Fall for the tourist traps, they are everywhere but avoidable! You usually have to make your way through the mazes that are these islands but when you do you will find the best gems there. The first restaurants in view are usually designed for the hungry tourist who will eat anything and then complain about the food. Embrace the Greek culture, eat lots of feta, olive oil, and seafood!

tourist trap

Do: Go to The Canaves Hotel in Oia, Santorini (pronounced eeya, like eeya eeya uhohhhh) for a drink by their pool and the most jaw dropping ocean/mountain/sunset views, you need to see to believe.

But mostly, have fun out there.. And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! (Not that theres much on the list)

Trending Bachelorette Spots for 2016

Gone are the days of blitzed out weekends. Millenials want sophistication and the thrill of discovery. Here are our predictions for the newest hen party hangouts.

Mexico City – really? Yes! Inexpensive street food and hipster bar scene, and best thing? You won’t be surrounded by other bachelorettes!

mex mex2

The Hague: because everyone goes to Amsterdam. Get a dose of culture and hit up this city’s fantastic resto scene.

The-Hague DenHaag_street2

Anchorage: the highest ratio of men to women in the US. So if that’s not reason enough, then add in the fact you’ll be the (only) prettiest girl at the bar. Hop on a cruise and see some glaciers while you’re at it. No need to save that for retirement.

anch anch2

Cape Town: um, did we say WINE? Well there is Table Mountain, and lots more, but did we say WINE?

Cape Town_mainpic cape town vineyard

Athens: Vogue magazine just called this European capital Brooklyn by the Sea, so skip the islands and soak up the bar scene in this Hipstorical capital. Cute boys too.

How to save money on your wedding and do it YOUR way!

So you are starting to plan your wedding. Here are some things to think about that will save you money and, more importantly, help you create YOUR PERFECT DAY!

wedding-wtf

Goodbye Chastity Belt!!!!

Make it your own

Even thought this sound obvious, you should make this your special day, full of the things and details that make you happy, not the wedding planners or your family. You don’t need to become a bridezilla to accomplish this, just be honest from the beginning and stand your ground. You will be tempted to do many things, choose only what works for you.

 Crazy_Wedding_Theme_4

Underwater Ceremony

Keep It Simple.
Most of the details brides go crazy about won’t ever be noticed by the guests, so take a chill pill and keep it simple. Choose not to waste time or money on insignificant details that bring nothing to the wedding ceremony or party and simply add details that reflect you and your significant other.

picnic wedding

A wedding picnic? Cool….

Utilize Your Own Resources (Friends and Family)
We all have friends and family members that could help us make our special day perfect. Having close friends and family doing many of the things necessary to pull off a great wedding also brings an intimacy that can’t be described. From hair and makeup to photographs and even decorations, we can surely find someone close that will be willing to help and save you tons of money in the process.

planner invite

So your second cousin is a wedding planner….go for it!

Reduce Your Guest list.
The guest list is normally a nightmare to finalize. There are so many things to consider. A guest list, with only close family and friends will undoubtedly create a much more intimate event, surrounded by the people that really should be there.

Cave-wedding

Intimate Cave Wedding

Think Outside the Box.
The wedding industry is huge and the results are a lot of cookie cutter events, hard to differentiate one form the other. Traditions can be “bent” to reflect you while at the same time putting on a unique event and saving money at the same time. Instead of a sit down dinner, try a casual barbeque or food trucks. The ideas are endless, just be brave and do your own thing.

Food Truck Wedding

Choose the date carefully
Your wedding date can have a huge impact on your costs and the costs of traveling and lodging for your guests. Be mindful of these points and you will save a ton of money by booking off-season, finding that lost hidden venue that is new or trying a day event instead of a night gala.

b

Prioritize.

This is actually very simple. Identify early on what is important to you and let go of the rest. Spend money on what you think people will remember, things that set your special day apart from all others and that have some significance to both you and your guests.

Unique-Wedding-Themes-Decor3

Do I really need the circus tent??

You can always Elope

Wedding planning can be very stressful and put a real strain on your relationship. Handle it with care, communicate well with your partner and create something where you both will be happy. If it’s getting complicated, don’t be afraid to chuck it out the window and romantically elope….

Destination weddings can be a solution when the budget is tight

Even thought there are travel costs associated, at the end, your guests list will shrink in size and improve in quality, meaning only the people you really want at your wedding will be there. It can be less formal, quirky and still breathtaking but in a much more intimate way.

Conclusion

This is YOUR day! Make it exactly what you want, avoid the things that don’t matter, relax and enjoy. You will be able to live without the matching napkins, the seat covers and the ultra-expensive caterer. This things will not matter the morning after, only the memories will stay with you forever.

These are the moments that count!
